CY Score: A New-Concept Chess Level Evaluation Tool

Introduction

As one of biggest chess club in China, Chao Yue Chess Club is developing a chess training app to expand their online business. With strong chess professionals and computational ability, they hope to develop new products to address current client painpoints and attract new users.

 

In 2023 summer, I worked in this company to do UX research and developed a new product.

The improvement in chess is hard to quantify.

Players are unclear about their strengths and weaknesses.

People want to know the direction of improvement.

Players need a product that not only evaluate their level, but tell them their strengths and weaknesses and give improvement suggestions.

Product: Chess Yardstick Score

A multi-dimentional chess level evaluation system, works by comparing the moves with the engine's best moves, and give evaluations on each aspect of games. 

Users play games on the app, games are stored
